When I was younger, I didn’t share my parents beliefs. I kept quiet about it most of the time, but sometimes I’d challenge their conservative ideals.    “You see those people.” My parents would say, pointing to anyone they thought were ‘wrong’, “You can’t associate yourself with them. We are better than them and your dad and I can’t have you being seen with them.”    I’d frown and say “But what have they done wrong?” My mother would explain everything and eventually I stopped asking.    Later I found a love for animals, which my parents hated.        “
